A Piece of Seed History – Handwritten Orders from the 1980s
Share
While cleaning out one of the old seed rooms, we came across this piece of history—an original handwritten customer order ledger from the early 1980s.
These pages document seed orders from the time when Horace Anderson—the grandfather of Eric Anderson—was running the company. After his retirement, the business continued under Eric, and today we carry that legacy forward here in Elfin Forest, California.

Looking through these records, you can see orders coming in from all over the world. It’s incredible to realize that this seed company was already operating internationally more than 40 years ago.
It also puts into perspective how much has changed. Every order was written by hand and carefully filed long before email, online stores, or digital databases existed.
Finding something like this is a reminder of the history behind what we do—and the foundation this nursery is built on.
