Setaria palmifolia (Palm Grass, Highland Pitpit) - 1000 Seeds - Bulk

Setaria palmifolia, commonly known as Palm Grass or Highland Pitpit, is a distinctive perennial grass prized for its exceptionally broad, strongly pleated foliage and lush tropical appearance. Unlike a typical fine-bladed grass, its large leaves have a dramatic palm-like texture that makes the species especially useful as an ornamental foliage plant.

Plants form vigorous clumps of upright to arching foliage and can create a dense, tropical effect in the landscape. The large corrugated leaves are the primary ornamental feature and work particularly well as a bold textural accent, backdrop planting, or mass planting.

Palm Grass performs best in warm growing conditions with adequate moisture and can be grown in sun to partial shade.

Germination & Cultivation

Seeds can be sown in a well-draining propagation medium and maintained under warm conditions with consistent moisture during germination and early establishment.

Once established, Setaria palmifolia develops rapidly under favorable warm, moist conditions and produces increasingly large, strongly pleated leaves. Its unusual foliage gives growers an ornamental grass with a much bolder and more tropical appearance than most conventional grass species.

Palm Grass is an excellent choice for professional nursery production and landscapes where large-scale foliage, texture, and a lush tropical effect are desired.
